Arrived at the 17th Century Coaching Inn, The Gaskell Arms Hotel mid afternoon and after parking the car in the spacious car park, was greeted with a friendly smile and welcome. Shown to our room, The Rindleford Suite, which even had its own front door leading onto the street, framed by magnificent hanging baskets…no tramping along corridors here! Room was a good size. The decor is quaint and comfortable and is in keeping with the age and feel of the hotel, but it had everything we wanted (including our own room Wi-Fi code…and a teapot!!) After a quick freshen up we went and had a drink from the bar, which we took into the hotel garden. This garden is wonderful, especially on what was them the hottest day of the year. Its is a lovely green oasis, with lots of room and surprisingly not busy. During our stay, we ate in the spacious characterful restaurant. The food was excellent, not cheap, but there were lots of it and well presented. Compliments to the chef. All food and drink can be put on the room rate, so no carrying cash around. A decent choice at breakfast was also taken in the restaurant, although room service was available if wanted. The staff were first class, nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly. The hotel is situated in the middle of the beautiful, historic small town of Much Wenlock, so well positioned for an easy stroll to the shops and Priory ( in the care of English Heritage ). All in all, it was a fabulous stay and I’d recommend this hotel, town and area to anyone. I hope to return in the not too distant future.
“Fulfilled all our expectations.”
The entire hotel is maintained and run to high standards. The youngsters under training in the dining room were wonderful hosts. The room was very comfortable with a good shower. Restaurant food at dinner and breakfast was excellent, extensive menu with good choice for non-meat eaters. We had a lovely stay, friendly and helpful staff, good food, comfy room – ticks all the boxes.
“Wonderful stay at the Gaskell Arms”
The staff were superb. Evening meals were of the highest quality. The breakfasts were the best we have ever had, served in the most helpful and friendly manner by lovely Jean. Excellent beers in lovely bar areas and a beautifully laid out and decorated dining room. We would have no hesitation in staying again for another visit to the area.
Very traditional pub with comfortable accommodation. Great base for exploring rural Shropshire. Much Wenlock a very interesting little town in beautiful countryside.

“The location was great for the local pubs. We had an excellent meal at the hotel and the staff were brilliant. (especially the lady with the horses). Also, the hotel has a lovely olde worlde charm about it and the room was very spacious and comfortable”
“Wow what a lovely place to visit. So warm, cosy and friendly. Really felt like we had a lovely break even though it was only over night. It was exactly what we were looking for so thank you one and all.”

Good afternoon Maxine.
Please convey to all staff our thanks and appreciation for their contribution to another enjoyable and relaxing stay with you, including our move to the Coach House, a facility we shall be happy to recommend to family and friends should they plan a break in your area. We shall return when we next visit Shropshire – at the moment we take our 3 or 4 night respite breaks spread across the year.

They have all said that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, not in a little part to you, your lovely Hotel and good staff. “An excellent venue for a party!”
13 October 2015
I organised a family party for 20 – ages ranging from 4 to 70 and nothing was to much trouble for the staff at the Gaskell Arms. The weekend comprised of dinner, bed and breakfast. All the food was freshly prepared and the staff were able to accommodate various dietary requirements. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. All our guests have congratulated us on our choice of venue. The hotel is well situated to enjoy the shops and historic sights of Much Wenlock.

A last email to thank you and your staff for making John’s 70th a memorable and happy event. All our guests have been very complimentary about their rooms and your hospitality. Just one apology from us, for leaving a large amount of packaging in Louise’s room. With an extra passenger, luggage and presents there just wasn’t room in the car.

What a wonderful find. From the front door we walked over ten miles on four different walks each one bringing us back to the town for a welcome break. We were so well looked after. Superb rooms, food and friendly staff. Nothing phased Jean!
