Wenlock Priory


The tranquil ruins of Wenlock Priory stand in a picturesque setting on the fringe of beautiful Much Wenlock. An Anglo-Saxon monastery was founded here in about 680 by King Merewalh of Mercia, whose abbess daughter Milburge was hailed as a saint. Her relics were miraculously rediscovered here in 1101, attracting both pilgrims and prosperity to the priory.

Wroxeter Roman City


Roman name “Viroconium”, the excavated remains of the second largest Roman city in Britain. Impressive ruins include 2nd century baths and remains of a huge gateway. A replica Roman Town House is now open at Wroxeter, built as part of Channel 4’s entertaining TV series ‘Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day’.

The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site


Follow in the footsteps of millions of tourists who since 1779 have journeyed here to marvel at the world’s first cast-iron bridge.

Built by Abraham Darby III and now recognised as one of the great symbols of the Industrial Revolution, the remarkable structure still dominates the small town that bears its name.

The secrets of how and why it was built are revealed in an exhibition housed in the original Tollhouse on the south side of the Bridge.

Bridgnorth Cliff Railway


Unique and historic Victorian Cliff Railway. Opened in 1892 to link High Town with Low Town and riverside quay. The oldest and steepest inland funicular railway in England.

Dudmaston Hall


Dudmaston Hall is a stunning National Trust property near Bridgnorth, surrounded by landscaped gardens and enchanted wooded parkland.

With nearly 900 years of history on display in the hall, as well as the surrounding grounds, which are perfect for exploring, there is something for all the family to enjoy at Dudmaston Hall.

Attingham Park


Based on the outskirts of the county town of Shrewsbury, Attingham Park is formed by an 18th century mansion and estate run by the National Trust.

The stunning property is currently undergoing an extensive restoration project which is not to be missed for history and architecture enthusiasts, as the property is brought back to its former glory.

The grounds are the perfect place for the children to run off their excess energy with a natural play field, or to relax – in the Walled Garden.

Wenlock Edge


Wenlock Edge is a long wooded escarpment stretching from The Wrekin to Craven Arms. The limestone ridge is the remains of a coral reef, so there are lots of opportunities for fossil hunting amongst the exposed rocks. The area is very popular with walkers and the National Trust own a seven mile stretch of the ridge.

Royal Air Force Museum Cosford
