The Gaskell Arms Hotel and Restaurant is a charming 17th Century Coaching Inn which has just been upgraded to AA 3 star rated (79%) and Visit Britain 3 Star. The hotel has been family owned and managed for the past 30 years and is situated in the Medieval Town of Much Wenlock with buildings dating back to the 1500’s and at the foot of the picturesque Wenlock Edge.

Much Wenlock lays claim to its Olympic birthright. In 1850 Dr. William Penny Brookes founded the Wenlock Olympian Society. The beamed dining room at The Gaskell Arms Hotel was where Dr. W. P. Brookes and Pierre De Coubetin, in the summer of 1890 would hold meetings.

During the past few years the hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard and we now have the addition of The Gaskell Mews and The Coach House Suite offering luxury accommodation which now gives us 14 en-suite rooms. We also have a beautifully landscaped private walled garden with a covered terrace area, to enjoy your pre dinner drinks in Summer months. In the Winter time we have an open log fire in our cosy lounge bar.

We have a 40 seater restaurant (open residents and non-residents) offering speciality dishes which include fresh fish and locally sourced meat. We are also able to offer a wide selection of bar meals, served in our cosy lounge bar, a la carte, table d’hote and Sunday lunches all served in our oak beamed dining room. We have a newly refurbished bar and always have a good selection of real ales sourced from local breweries which are very popular.

We have a large private car park and can accommodate private parties, coach parties (by appointment), business meetings and luncheons, small weddings. We are now also able to offer our business guests the added convenience of wi-fi internet connection.
